Here at DZED Systems, we have a point of view. We are animators, cinematographers and artists, and we designed Dragonframe to be the software we’ve been waiting for. The software that allows us to do performance-based animation at the feature level in any format.
Start your stop motion filming journey today with the digital image capture software trusted by leading film studios and independent filmmakers alike.
Switch directly between live view and captured frames or switch to auto toggle. Loop playback to get the sense of motion you’re looking for. Playback and step-by-step functions are fully customizable to your needs.
Load multiple still images or reference videos and display them with your animation. Combine them with opacity, extract a chroma key (blue screen) and even assign a trash matte to see only the part you want. Display reference videos in a synchronized player if you want it on the side.
With the Dragonframe keyboard, you can concentrate on animating instead of fumbling around with the mouse. And the hotkeys are fully configurable, so if you really like a function that’s not on the keyboard, you can move it there.
Import multiple audio tracks and perform basic edits. Split tracks and drag segments to adjust timing on the fly. You can even move waveforms and character tracking readouts to keep them in sync.
Create characters, review their audio and assign words and phonetics for all your dialogs. View this data while animating, in X-Sheet, Timeline or Audio HUD.
Control up to 512 lighting channels in conjunction with our DDMX-512, DMC-32, DMC-16 or DMC+. You set your lighting program before you shoot and then watch Dragonframe control your lights during the shot, leaving your animators to concentrate on the animation.
Define your lighting program with keyframes. Adjust smoothness in every direction with a simplified “bezier” handle, giving you a high degree of control while maintaining an efficient programming interface.
It is easy to create custom lighting programs for different exposures. You can customize the exposure lighting program directly or create a new program to share one or more exposures.
Integrated motion control means you can program camera movements and lighting effects from the same system. It means you can quickly preview movements with the same camera you will be animating with. It means that the lighting and motion control will be in the right place at the right time. Then, if the animator needs to reshoot a few frames, Dragonframe can safely move the rig to the right position, every time.
Once you’ve programmed a motion, you’ll want to test it. Run a motion test within the Arc workspace and see how it looks. The motion test captures only video assist frames to speed up the testing process. On a long motion, you can re-shoot just the section you are working on. You’ll have the motion perfected in record time.
You can use a wide range of hardware, from the Arduino-based DFMoco sketch you can make yourself to ready-to-use kits from eMotimo or Slidekamera . See the supported hardware in our FAQ for more information.
